Here is some art in which Gojyo and Hakkai are highwaymen.

I was imagining them as partners in crime... one night while robbing a coach (containing Koumyou and Sanzo), Hakkai and Gojyo are attacked themselves by something evil and supernatural (to do with Ukoku, of course). Hakkai messily buys the farm (or appears to). Days/weeks later I think Gojyo is haunted/hunted by something, though I'm not sure if it is Hakkai, or undead/cursed not-Hakkai, or just Gojyo's despair.

Mood board:

I think Hakkai would have more than one incarnation before the story's climax. Sometimes a phantom, sometimes an evil beast-thing, and maybe sometimes something almost human. I toyed around with his phantom incarnation here.

Wow. You've captured a really eerie atmosphere with that. I love the texture to the coloring. Did you do it digitally? It really looks authentically like watercolor/ink. I'm really impressed.

omg that is GORGEOUS. I am so envious, I can't even do decent stick figures. (I am the infamous person in my family who during a game of pictionary had the word "Florida". Based on my drawing, my partner guessed "gonnerhea." Guess I shouldn't have added the florida keys.)

aknakjfh I LOVE YOUR STYLE! The expressions, and the hair, and the eyes! and the textures. And I love love LOVE that you put so much thought into the pictures. The back story is as intruiging as the picture is beautiful.
